Marakana is a privately-held company based in San Francisco, California.
Since 2001, we have been helping IT professionals get better at what they do by providing an extensive range of training services on open source software solutions and agile practices.
Always pushing the envelope, we are constantly exploring new fields of knowledge as well as new training methodologies to better serve our clients.
We pride ourselves by standing by our commitment to help IT professionals get to the next level, by being in tune with our customers' actual needs, and by always delivering on what we promise, all while having fun doing it.
We also founded and continue to run the following user groups:

- The San Francisco Android User Group
- The San Francisco HTML5 User Group
We believe in using technology to deliver a superior customer experience. Over the years, we have created a Training Management Platform we call Marakana Spark. It helps us run our business more effectively and recently we have started offering it to other training companies.
History
It all started with an ad on Craigslist. A local San Francisco non-profit was looking for a technical person to help with some Java classes. We liked their mission: Bridging the Digital Divide - to help underprivileged youth, minorities and women get into high-tech jobs. The demand was extraordinary. The classes would sell out within hours of being announced. Encouraged by the early wins and success of the participants, we started providing open source training to corporations and governments. Today, we provide open source training across the US, Canada, and Asia. The rest, as they say, is history...
